The classification of Cypriot species is done by family, while the scientific (Latin) and common (Cypriot dialect) names are given. After the general description of each family, the detailed description of each Cypriot species follows: external characteristics, habitat, feeding habits, incubation periods, etc. The text is accompanied by approximately 400 color photographs. The publication is complemented by the complete list of all the birds of Cyprus and the text by archaeologist Pavlos Flourentzos on the depiction of birds in ancient and medieval art of Cyprus (ceramics, plastic, coinage).
