The Volume was edited by Gelina Harlaftis, Professor at the Ionian University and Dr. Radu Pǎun, researcher at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (Paris). It mainly comprises the Proceedings of the Conference bearing the same title, held at the “Nicolae Iorga” Institute of History, in Bucharest (3-4 October 2008), organised by the Alpha Bank Historical Archives and sponsored by the J.F. Costopoulos Foundation.
The papers presented not only discuss the issues which have been developed in the Greek and Romanian historiography, but, for lack of joint academic works, proceed to analyse further the Greek-Romanian relation and its impact on the economic, social and cultural life of Romania during the 19th Century. Thus, the aim of this Publication is to shed light on unknown aspects of this highly significant period for the Greek Diaspora.
