The pages of the guide provide a look back at the history, architecture and art of the monastery complex of Agios Ioannis Lampadistis in Kalopanayiotis, which includes, in addition to the Byzantine catholicon dedicated to Saint Iraklidios, two more churches, those of Agios Ioannis Lampadistos and the Akathistos Hymn. In these churches, Byzantine and post-Byzantine frescoes dating from the 12th to the 16th century have been preserved, as well as remarkable portable icons and wood carvings. A glossary of terms follows for a better understanding of the texts and selected bibliography is provided. The monument is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
